Operating the Recorder with Hand-mikes / key assignment

When the speech recognition Dictation Window is closed, audio dictations can be controlled either via the keyboard, the mouse, or via the buttons on the hand-mike.  The Dictation Manager must be closed (only the recording functions on the bar are displayed) to allow the keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) to operate. If the Dictation Manager is open, then the keyboard is used to navigate through the various dictation folders and select/modify dictation details.

If you have a Philips Digital Pocket Memo 96x0/95x0/9400i
/9450, Grundig Digta 415/420 or an Olympus DS-330/660/3300/4000/5000, you can use it as a hand- held mike and control the dictation with its own keys.

yellow.gif (51 Byte) In order to use the Philips DPM 9400i/9450 as a hand-held mike, you must install the additional Philips DPM Download/Configuration software. This is available from the Download page on our Web-site or from the Philips CD.

yellow.gif (51 Byte) If using the DPM 9620/9520/9400i/9450, the position of the sliding switch cannot be determined by the Recorder and so has no immediate function. Because of this, the recording must be started by sliding to 'Pause' and then to 'Play'.

yellow.gif (51 Byte) The Grundig ProMic 840 or DigtaSonic Mic must have the corresponding driver (supplied with the device) installed but WITHOUT AdapterServerConifg auto-start option during setup.  After pressing Record (or Insert), slide the switch to 'Play' (Start) to start the recording.  Please note that the mike is muted when the slider is on 'Stop'.

Recording using a footswitch is described under Options-Hardware.

There is also an option to allow the ClipWriter hotkey set.  This is intended principally for the Player without a footswitch. The full list of functions is defined below.
