Correction window (DictaPad)

The correction window is designed to correct speech-recognized texts and will appear automatically for dictations from Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 8 or above .  In the Player, speech-recognized texts are indicated by the symbol in Column "A" of Dictation Overview.  The window will be opened with this text when the dictation is loaded into the Player.  The corresponding Dragon user (author) profile is loaded automatically before the text is displayed.

The window allows the user to correct speech-recognized text, even without a footswitch, and then format the document.  The text can be edited and saved, and then pasted to another Windows word-processing program using [ CTRL + V ].
The Save function
will always save the complete text and copy it to the Windows clipboard before moving the dictation to the completed folder.
You can return to the
Dictation Manager at any time by clicking on the yellow folder symbol .

Dragon NaturallySpeaking offers synch
ronized playback and an improved "delegated correction" process for correcting speech-recognized dictations (based on .DRA format) and has this layout in the correction window:

Additional information about correction in Dragon is in the Nuance Help files.  Click on the small speech-bubble symbol and select Speech recognition options.  You can then click on the Help button on the Options dialog-box and then Show to see all topics.

Playing back speech-recognized text

Either click on the blue, playback control keys or use your footswitch to play, rewind or pause the audio.  The yellow arrow indicates which word corresponds to the audio you are hearing.

Button Function
Start playback from the current cursor position
Playback faster (playback must already be started to use this button). Click once more to deactivate.
Playback the last phrase.  Click again to jump back one phrase
Playback the next phase.  Click again to jump forward one phrase
Playback the backup copy from the start, but without the yellow arrow
Stop

You can click anywhere in the text to change the cursor position.  A block of text can also be selected with the mouse and then played back.

A right mouse-click on a marked block will also show the functions for playback, cut/paste, correction etc.

The volume can be changed with the button.

If the yellow arrow jumps to the end of the dictation or over certain text passages and you cannot play the audio matching the text, then the .rtf file of the dictation is probably out-of-sync with the .dra file.  In this case use the command menu function "Do not load RTF file" and try again.  This is the arrow next to the small speech-bubble symbol   in the menu bar above.

Correcting speech-recognized text

You can use the keyboard to correct any speech-recognition errors as you would with a typical word processor. Please note that the author's speech recognition profile is only improved using Dragon functions in the delegated Correction mode.  In addition, the following buttons are available:

Copy the selected text
Cut the selected text
Paste the text from clipboard

The command menu to the right of the small speech-bubble symbol is for advanced Dragon commands and dictation functions not normally applicable to the Player.
